Moving Home, Without the Overwhelm.

For many people, moving home is considered one of the most stressful life events.

Research has consistently shown that moving home ranks alongside major life stressors such as bereavement, illness and divorce.

But for care experienced people, moving can come with even more pressure. Trying to understand bills. Setting up utilities. Working out broadband, council tax, insurance, suppliers, contracts and moving admin. Often all whilst balancing education (or work), wellbeing, finances, healing, or simply trying to settle into a new environment.

And whilst formal support may reduce with age, the anxiety, overwhelm and pressure around independence does not suddenly disappear at 21 or 25. Many care experienced adults may have been living independently for years and still find navigating systems, bills and major life changes overwhelming, especially without traditional support networks around them.

Sometimes it’s not about capability. It’s about exhaustion, anxiety, avoidance, or never having had someone properly explain how these systems work in the first place. When trauma, anxiety or overwhelm are involved, practical tasks can begin to feel much bigger than they appear on paper.

For some people, this can lead to avoidance, delays or difficulty navigating systems - not because they do not care, but because emotional capacity has already been stretched elsewhere. Over time, this can sometimes create additional stress, confusion or financial impact.

That’s why having practical support in one place, with the option of extra guidance or speaking to someone directly, can make such a difference. It’s not just about saving time, it’s about reducing emotional pressure during a major life transition.
