Our Commitment

At Adelphi – Adulting, Together®, we believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, respected and supported.

Safeguarding is an important part of everything we do. Whilst Adelphi is not a statutory service, we recognise our responsibility to promote the welfare of children, young people and adults who may be vulnerable, and to respond appropriately where safeguarding concerns arise.

Our work is guided by the principles of dignity, respect, inclusion, empowerment and positive outcomes.

Who We Support

Adelphi supports care-experienced people, professionals, organisations and communities across the United Kingdom.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Children and young people currently in care
• Care-experienced young people and adults
• Foster carers and kinship carers
• Local Authorities and partner organisations
• Education providers and professionals
• Community groups and support services

We recognise that many individuals accessing Adelphi services may have experienced trauma, loss, instability or other adverse life experiences.

We aim to create environments, content and opportunities that are welcoming, inclusive and psychologically safe.

Professional Standards

Adelphi is committed to operating in a safe, ethical and professional manner.

Where relevant to the services being delivered, Adelphi maintains appropriate business insurance and compliance measures.

The founder and any approved associates may hold relevant qualifications, accredited training certifications, enhanced DBS checks and professional experience appropriate to the services being provided.

Adelphi is committed to continuous learning and maintaining high standards when engaging with care-experienced people, professionals, organisations and communities.

Our Approach

We aim to:

• Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
• Promote inclusion and belonging
• Listen without judgement
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
• Act responsibly where concerns are raised
• Signpost individuals to appropriate support where needed
• Work in a manner that is trauma-informed and person-centred

We encourage all users, partners and organisations engaging with Adelphi to share these values.

Safeguarding Concerns

If information is disclosed to Adelphi that suggests a child, young person or adult may be at risk of harm, neglect, abuse or exploitation, we may need to take appropriate action.

This may include:

• Seeking further information where appropriate
• Recording concerns
• Consulting relevant guidance
• Sharing information with appropriate safeguarding authorities, professionals or emergency services where necessary and lawful to do so

Where possible, we will seek to be transparent about this process. However, there may be circumstances where information must be shared without consent to protect an individual from harm or to meet legal obligations.

Confidentiality

Adelphi respects the privacy of those who engage with our services.

However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where safeguarding concerns, serious risks to safety, criminal activity or legal obligations require information to be shared.

Any information shared will be limited to what is necessary, proportionate and appropriate.

Partner Organisations and Third-Party Services

Adelphi works with carefully selected organisations, businesses, charities, public sector bodies and community partners.

Where services, opportunities or initiatives are delivered by a partner organisation, that organisation remains responsible for its own safeguarding arrangements, policies, procedures, staff vetting, training and legal obligations.

Examples may include:

• Drive 2 Thrive™ delivery partners
• Moving Home Support partners
• Training and event partners
• Employment and development opportunities
• Other third-party organisations promoted through Adelphi

Adelphi undertakes reasonable due diligence before entering partnerships and reserves the right to review, suspend or end partnership arrangements where safeguarding concerns arise.

Users should review the policies, terms and safeguarding information of any external organisation they choose to engage with.

Online Safety

Whilst Adelphi takes reasonable steps to maintain safe digital environments, users remain responsible for their own online interactions and decision-making.

We encourage users to:

• Protect personal information online
• Exercise caution when engaging with third parties
• Report inappropriate behaviour or concerns
• Seek support if they feel unsafe

Adelphi reserves the right to remove content, restrict access or take appropriate action where behaviour is considered harmful, abusive, discriminatory or unsafe.

Emergencies and Crisis Support

Adelphi is not an emergency service, crisis intervention service, social work provider, mental health service or safeguarding authority.
